Full Face Laser Resurfacing

WHAT is Full Face Laser Resurfacing?

This is one of the most powerful procedures to significantly reduce the signs of aging. In full field laser resurfacing, Dr. Becker will use our Contour TRL erbium laser to treat the skin down to the deeper layers. This effectively removes the outer, sun-damaged and aged layers of the skin responsible for irregularities of texture and pigment. The result is a remarkable improvement in the appearance of lines, wrinkles. This laser treatment helps create a much more even skin complexion and can improve the crepe-like skin like that is often seen in the lower eyelids. Individual results may vary.

After about 7 days of recovery, this damaged/aged skin is replaced with fresh new skin that appears firmer with fewer lines and wrinkles and a more even complexion. Full face laser resurfacing significantly fades or removes the dark spots and pigment irregularities and also completely transforms the texture of the skin for a more youthful look and feel. Individual results may vary.

CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

The Contour TRL’s unique ability to be tuned for different tissue effects gives it the widest array of possible treatments. TRL technology provides the ability to plane down wrinkles externally while internally stimulating the dermal collagen matrix to firm the skin and add dermal resilience. Primary treatments include:

  • Mild to deep wrinkles
  • Persistent peri-oral and peri-orbital deep rhytides
  • Acne scars, post-traumatic and surgical scars
  • Actinic keratoses
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Lax skin in all areas (including upper and lower blephs)
  • Poor skin tone/texture

Contour TRL can treat all skin types, both on face and body. Individual results may vary.

WHAT To Expect

After applying a topical and/or subcutaneous local anesthetic, Dr. Becker will determine the precise settings to deliver the best results for the patient’s skin concerns.  The procedure will typically last between 30-45 minutes.  Most patients find the procedure to be easy and relatively pain free, however it can vary from person to person.

Immediately after the treatment there will be some redness, slight swelling and the feeling of a sunburn. Healing time can vary from 3 days to a week or more depending on the depth of the treatment.  Dr. Becker will explain what you can expect based on your specific condition. After a week, you will be able to use make-up to cover any lingering signs of the procedure. Individual results may vary.

Deeper treatments can continue to see improvement over four to six months as new collagen is produced.  It is very important, as always, to use sun protection on the treated area as the skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light.
