7 Essential Oil Home Remedies

Essential oils have been around for eons now, and they have been used for cooking and aromatherapy among countless other things. The best thing about essential oils is they don’t just smell nice, they can also make you feel amazingly good. Here’s a list of seven essential oil home remedies everyone should know:

1. Muscle And Joint Pain

Cinnamon is one of those exotic and sexy smells because it has that certain spicy and musky scent. But it also has a way to make people feel cozy and relaxed. Some people are using cinnamon’s essential oil to help them with chest colds. Not only that, but you can also use it to soothe those achy muscles and joint pains. This is because it has antispasmodic and analgesic properties.

For muscle and joint pain: Add 3 drops of Cinnamon oil into 2 tablespoons Olive oil, mix well and massage into affected areas.

2. Scar Reduction

Lavender essence is definitely a must-have because of its anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, immune-boosting, and other beneficial properties. It’s great to use in caring for wounds and one of the best features is that using it on a healed wound can help with reducing any scars it might leave. Use 2-4 drops several times a day directly on the wound.

It’s also said that using it on a burn from the onset will ensure you’re left with no scar at all. Make sure to test it on your skin first as it has a high concentration of linalool which some people are sensitive to.

3. Hormone Regulation

Clary sage essential oil has a lot of different properties that are beneficial for your skin. It has a subtle and sweet herbal aroma compared to the strong smell of other natural skin care ingredients. This oil has been recognized because of its reputation to help regulate hormones in women. Its scent also has amazing antidepressant effects.

To ease menopause symptoms: add 2 drops of clary sage oil, 3 drops of cypress oil, 1 cup Epsom salt, and 5 drops of geranium oil, in your bath, mix well and soak for 20-30 minutes.

4. Bad Breath

Tea tree only grows naturally and abundantly in the land down under, Australia. Australian native cultures use tea tree oil to heal wounds, treat skin ailments, sore throats, coughs and colds. It has the ability to kill oral bacteria, too, so you can definitely use in your mouthwash.

Just add 5-10 drops Tea Tree oil to 1 cup of mouthwash or water and mix well. Gargle or swish a small amount around in your mouth twice a day. Never swallow the mixture.

5. Sinus Clearing

Remember that famous vapor rub with eucalyptus oil in it? Eucalyptus definitely has a scent that will help clear your airways instantly. Some people prefer to diffuse eucalyptus oil in their homes to make the air feel really fresh and clean.

6. Morning Sickness

You can see lemon oil in almost every product from hand sanitizers to household cleaning sprays. Just like most citrus oils, lemon oil has a zesty scent that makes everything smell clean. Inhaling Lemon Oil while pregnant can reduce or eliminate nausea caused by morning sickness.

7. Dandruff

Lemongrass is commonly used for tea and is widely cultivated in Asia and Africa. The essential oil from this plant has a mild and sweet aroma with a hint of lemon. The antifungal properties of the oil also help in fighting the yeast that causes dandruff. If you or someone in the family are having issues with dandruff: add a few drops into your shampoo or conditioner daily and massage into your scalp.

There are a ton of other essential oils out there but these seven should definitely be on top of your list. Which one of these is your favorite and how do you use it?
